History
Villa Balanza opened in 1999, a place that tries to rescue in its kitchen and architectonic style the popular idiosyncrasies of our region. In our kitchen we mix a varied recipes of culinary styles, exotic flavors from Mesoamerica that are mixed with the traditional dishes of our ancestors make our menu a treat for all the exigencies. Our restaurant in a typical style tries in its decoration to use the instruments and utensils used by our people in their daily lives, a museum-gallery that protects in its interior the memory and popular art of this region. The name “Villa Balanza” arises from an artistic inspiration and can been seen in the structure of the scale that is above the main door. On the heavy side of the scale an unexploded 750 pound dropped by the armed forces during the civil war, to contrast this on the lighter side of the scale, a stack of tortillas. Symbolizing this counterbalance subtly suggests the presence of a town and its ancestral culture: “the culture of the maize”.
Villa Balanza welcomes all wishing that our recipes and service meet up to your standards in this space of history, art and culture.
We hope you enjoy your stay in “the land the birds and flowers”: Suchitoto
